Google is cutting jobs at its Waze mapping service as it merges the unit with its own map products. "We have decided to transition Waze's ads monetization to be managed by the Global Business Organization (GBO), similar to Google Maps," Phillips wrote. "Unfortunately, this will result in a reduction of Waze Ads monetization-focused roles in sales, marketing, operations and analytics." The company hopes to "create a more scalable and optimized Waze Ads product," Phillips wrote, adding that it will "wind down the current Waze Ads product while we focus on building new Waze Ads powered by Google Ads." The Waze unit has more than 500 employees, according to internal documentation viewed by CNBC.

The firm downgraded the luxury cosmetic stock to perform from outperform on Monday and removed its $250 price target. The stock closed at $188.29 per share on Friday. Parikh added that Oppenheimer expects further caution on forward guidance from company management in the future, although the company could still recover over a longer period thanks to its market prominence. Last month, the stock tanked 17% after Estee Lauder posted weaker-than-expected earnings for the fiscal third quarter.

NEW DELHI, March 27 (Reuters) - India's cabinet is set to adopt a gas panel report this week, which has recommended capping the price for most local gas at $6.50 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) in April, two sources said on Monday. India last year set up the panel, led by energy expert Kirit Parikh, to review India's gas pricing formula to ensure fair prices to consumers after state-set prices of gas from old fields and a ceiling price for output from hard-to-access, difficult blocks rose to record highs. The current price of gas from old blocks is set at $8.57 and is valid from October to end-March. Oman and Dubai crudes make up on average 75.6% of India's crude basket, with 24.5% coming from dated Brent. India's current local gas prices are linked to global benchmarks and are revised twice a year in April and October.
Courtside Ventures in January closed a $100 million fund, its biggest yet. KB Partners late last year closed a $127 million fund, also its biggest yet. If you're not in one of those lanes, don't bother reaching out, even though the firm has the new $100 million fund to dole out. Parikh expects fewer investments in media companies out of the new fund, but more investments in gaming. It's doling out the money through two accelerator programs and an investment fund.

The problem was the Neris had switched to a new, high-deductible health insurance plan to save money. The 2010 Affordable Care Act expanded access to health insurance, so companies were faced with covering more people than ever before. Dec 8 (Reuters) - Google said on Thursday it will merge teams working on mapping service Waze and products like Google Maps, effective Dec. 9, in a bid to consolidate processes. The Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O)-owned company will integrate Waze, which it acquired in 2013 for $1 billion, into Google Geo, its portfolio of real-world mapping products that include Google Maps, Google Earth, and Street View, a Google spokesperson said. Waze CEO Neha Parikh will exit the company following a transition period, Google said, adding that Waze will continue to be a standalone app, with about 151 million monthly active users worldwide. "By bringing the Waze team into Geo's portfolio of real-world mapping products, the teams will benefit from further increased technical collaboration," the spokesperson said. In a letter dated July 12, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said the company would streamline processes and consolidate investments where they overlap.
Waze, the crowdsourcing navigation app, is continuing to find ways to make frustrating road bumps a little more bearable. Waze users – also known as "Wazers" – provide information on things like stopped cars, road work, gas prices and police activity during their commutes. The addition of Waze to the Google portfolio was expected to help Google improve features on its own navigation app, Google Maps. Despite these challenges, innovations within the app have kept Waze users consistently coming back to the platform. Partnerships with popular music streaming services such as Spotify, Pandora and iHeartRadio allow Waze users to stream music directly through the Waze app as they navigate to their destination.

$14 billion Schonfeld Strategic Advisors has rolled out a credit unit within its new macro trading business that launched earlier this year. Silverman and Aubrey joined in July and August, respectively, following Anchorage shutting its $7.4 billion hedge fund last December. The expanding credit business is part of Schonfeld's recent growth tear. In January, the firm is rolling out long/short credit strategies across the credit quality spectrum in the US and plans to add APAC and EMEA strategies over time. The HFRI Asset Weighted Index gained 1.1% for September, increasing the year-to-date return to 3.8%, according to Hedge Fund Research data.
Hedge fund Schonfeld has opened an office in Summit, New Jersey after surveying staff. $14 billion Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is taking a different route from other Wall Street firms to get their employees into the office and to attract talent in the long run. The family-office-turned-hedge fund has been on a growth tear since Ryan Tolkin took over as chief executive at the beginning of 2021. Schonfeld employees are typically in the office three days a week but this can vary across teams. "By accessing a broader talent pool, we will naturally continue to grow in each of these offices," Tolkin, who is also the firm's chief investment officer, told Insider.
The blockbuster transaction comes amid a slowdown in deal making, economic uncertainty and concerns among investors about companies that carry high levels of debt. Cincinnati-based Kroger said Friday that it will pay for the $24.6 billion deal with cash and proceeds from a new debt financing. The company secured a 364-day, $17.4 billion bridge loan from Citigroup Inc. and Wells Fargo & Co., it said in a securities filing. Kroger will temporarily pause buybacks with the goal of giving priority to debt reduction after the transaction closes, the company said Friday. The company on Friday didn’t say what its leverage ratio will be after the transaction closes.
It's time to buy Chewy at an attractive entry point, according to Oppenheimer. Shares of Chewy are down roughly 36% this year, underperforming the 21% decline in the S & P 500 over the same time period. "We believe the recent pullback represents an attractive entry point for longer-term players," Parikh wrote in a Thursday note. Oppenheimer's $42 price target represents about 10% upside from Thursday's closing price of $37.94. "We expect a volatile trade to continue from here and would take advantage of any potential dips," Parikh wrote.
Richard Galanti, Costco Wholesale CFO Photo: Costco Wholesale Corp.“It takes time for changes to come through,” Mr. Galanti said. A company’s freight costs vary depending on whether they are fixed by contract for a period of time or based on spot-market rates that can change more quickly. The length of contracts as well as the company’s ability to renegotiate the terms of its agreements also affect the retailer’s freight costs, he said. These cost pressures will persist, as wages don’t tend to come down once they have gone up, Mr. Galanti said. Price increases have also hit food court items such as individual sodas and whole pizzas because of rising costs, Mr. Galanti said earlier this year.
